Jacqueline Withers created a series of sky paintings to honor the aviation work of Bessie Coleman; the first African-American woman and first Native American to hold a pilot license. Jacqueline founded the Fly Girls and Boys Bessie Coleman Denver Chapter of Take Flight Leadership Aviation as an organization that helps teach leadership and aviation skills to teens. She is a board member of the Colorado Council of Black Nurses and former nurse. For the P.S. You Are Here project, she helped us transform the notion of a ‘hell-strip’ into the idea of a ‘Health Strip’ by cultivating the plot of land between the sidewalk and the street. Taking a holistic approach to health, she feels that confident, well-rounded individuals who have a strong sense of their own identity will thrive as healthy members of our communities.
